About Digital Archivy Approach

Good archiving begins with you as owner, creator or collector of assets.  We work closely with creators and clients for discovery. We design a number of use cases so deliverables and success are clearly defined.  Armed with insight, we make recommendations, help define deliverables and priorities, and project time and costs.  We then review options and  implement solutions that address needs and goals best.  We deliver results that are positive, valuable, and measurable.

About David Kay

About Digital Archivy

David Kay, CEO and Consulting Archivist

David Kay is a Consulting Archivist. He worked as Digital Asset Manager (DAM) at Nickelodeon Creative Resources from 2011-2013. From 2006-2010, he was Digital Archivist and Director of Archives for Little Airplane Productions, an Emmy Award-winning animation studio in New York City.

He worked with many clients as Consultant and Manager of the Information & Archival Services division of The Winthrop Group (2014-2018) and at Optimity Advisors (2018-2019). These include public corporations, private companies, not-for-profits, NGOs, advocacy groups, educational institutions, governmental agencies, religious organizations as well as individuals and families.

Professional Service

In 2010, the Society of American Archivists (SAA) appointed David to the Digital Archives Continuing Education (DACE) Task Force. The Task Force was responsible for developing and proposing a curriculum to improve digital archiving. They delivered a report that led to the Digital Archives Specialist (DAS) Certificate program.

As a result, hundreds of archivists received training in standards and best practice. In 2012, David was appointed to Education Committee as the first Digital Archives Specialist. He served a 3-year term and helped grow and spread the DAS curriculum. David has also been a panelist and moderator at a number of conferences and events.

Archival and Library and Information Studies Education

David received his MLS degree from CUNY Queens College with a certificate in Archives, Records Management and Preservation. He won the Betsy Movchine Award for “the betterment of student life” for his leadership as President of the Library School Student Association from 2005 – 2006.  Prior to that, he earned two BA degrees in Film Studies and Psychology from University of Rochester.
